Back in 1981 NBC held a week long Public Service Campaign Get High on Yourself week
to discourage kids from taking drugs. A commercial was recorded to air nearly every hour during prime time on NBC for eight days. You can read more about the campaign at Time magazine.
Neither Olivia nor John Travolta are featured in the commercial but are part of the accompanying one hour special. Olivia and John talk to kids about taking drugs. John had seen drugs and their effects at his High School and decided at the time that he could without them. Olivia listens very intently to John's stories, you get the impression that Olivia didn't see much of the drug culture at her school in Australia.
Olivia does tell the kids that although they may think that most showbusiness people take drugs that's not the case. Most people she knows with a hip and glamorous image are not into drugs at all. She advises the kids to develop a hobby or interest that they can get involved with a few times a week.
