The Rock Music Awards was an annual awards ceremony for rock music that was held from 1975 to 1977. This first one was hosted by Elton John and Diana Ross. Olivia herself was to co-host at the last Rock Music Awards in 1977.
In the 1975 ceremony Olivia presents two awards with, in one of the most unlikely pairings, Keith Moon for the best new male vocalist and best male vocalist.
Olivia and Keith arrive on stage with Olivia pulling Keith in a carriage which she drops and Keith falls off (a pre-planned stunt). After Keith recovers from his fall one of the first thing he says is Sleep with me Olivia.
During their segment Keith also makes a joke about having sex with Joe Walsh and also with Olivia in the man's room. Olivia manages all this very well, just giggling whilst all this chaos is going on, and tries to hold the proceedings together.
The winner of best male vocalist is Stevie Wonder and Olivia takes over from Keith by helping Stevie to the podium. Stevie, a class act, asks the audience to pause and stand to remember jazz great Cannonball Adderly, who died earlier that day.
Rolling Stone have a good account of the whole 1975 Awards Ceremony saying We will, sadly, probably never have a Rock Music Awards again, but we’ll always have footage of Olivia Newton-John desperately saying with her eyes, Please. Anybody. Get Keith Moon away from me.
(personally I don't think she was bothered at all by Keith, she knew what to expect beforehand!).
