OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN, 58, knows a thing or two about talent shows. Her own career was launched after winning an Australian singing contest at age 15. And now the singer (whose latest album, Grace and Gratitude, is available at Walgreens) and actress is guest-judging on Fox’s American Idol (Tuesday, February 6, 8 P.M.) and offering Sandy expertise on NBC’s Grease: You’re the One That I Want! (Sundays, 8 P.M.). The mother of one (daughter Chloe is 21) fills Us in on all the details.
Q: So, are you a mean or nice Idol judge?
I tried to be as kind as possible. I could never say things like Simon [Cowell], but I discovered that people respect his honesty.
Q: How was wearing those spandex pants in Grease?
They were made of sharkskin, and I had to be sewn into them. It was such a procedure to get out of them.
Q: They were so ridiculously tight.
Well, I was young. I wouldn’t try it now!
Fun fact: Newton-John was there when Nicole Kidman met Keith Urban. “I could actually see sparks!” she tells Us.
