The main film synopsis is:
David and Mia meet on holiday on a Pacific island and after a whirlwind romance agree to get married. Orphaned David returns to London, collects his three best friends to share best man duties and heads to Australia for the wedding. After the best men make an unscheduled detour on the way, things spiral wildly out of control, none of which impresses Mia's pompous senator father. David is soon fighting to keep the wedding on track.
This movie was intended to be Meet The Parents crossed with The Hangover and it is a very blokeish movie. This movie didn't get the best reviews and you either find it crude and offensive or hilarious. If it's not your kind of movie I'd recommend forwarding to the Olivia segments as she does give a very funny performance and she looks great. Olivia plays Barbara Ramme, the mother of the bride and wife of a straight laced Senator.
Fed up with her husband and his ambition for his offspring Barbara (Olivia Newton-John) decides to let her hair down (literally) at the wedding. She ends up snorting cocaine, hanging from the chandelier, flirting with other guests and leading the YMCA dance. There is a happy ending for the bride and groom and Barbara herself. Her husband lightens up, allowing his daughters to explore their dreams, rather than his, and reconciles with Barbara by the end of the movie.
The movie was filmed mainly in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, Australia, and the scenery is gorgeous. It received it's premiere 14 October 2011 at the Mill Valley Film Festival in California. It was released in theatres in 2012 in Australia and Europe and released on DVD later that year. The USA had to wait until 2015 for their DVD release.
One of the more positive critics describes Olivia's performance as As Mia’s mother, it’s Olivia Newton-John who you are most likely be surprised by. It’s great to see an actor in a role that you wouldn’t ordinarily expect. After a lot of wine and a little cocaine, her character is transformed into one very loose human being who isn’t afraid to say what’s on her mind. She’s hilarious!

The CD soundtrack to the movie features many songs by Olivia. However, the movie itself doesn't feature any of Olivia's tracks until the end credits where she performs the wonderful original track Weightless written by John and Max Farrar
