Grease - After They Were Famous TV show
Grease: After They Were Famous Special
ITV1 9pm ***
Grease is probably the most 100 per cent piece of Americana on film that we have. “It captures the essence of America like no other film has”, says John Travolta, a principal contributor to an affectionate look back at Grease, which smashed film box office records 25 years ago. Set in a 1950s high school, it was a familiar fairy tale about the thwarted love of high-school sweethearts played by Travolta and Olivia Newton-John -but there was plenty of teenage rebellion elsewhere to prevent it becoming excessively saccharine.
Newton-John, and Travolta hard Channing (who played Rizzo) went on to other things, but what about the actors who played their classmates? Find out tonight.
