The triumphant album Physical was Olivia's greatest success, the apotheosis of her solo career excluding soundtracks. The album and single sold two million, building on the direction Totally Hot had started but taking it to a new level. Olivia toured the United States with the album in 1982, this was to be her last live concert tour for 16 years.
The album was a lavish production, with a gatefold sleeve design to use both spreads as promotional material, it was great to see Olivia all over HMC Oxford Street's store. I should have taken some pictures at the time
Olivia went to Hawaii with photographer Herb Ritts for the photoshoot for the album cover and inner sleeves.
