The film Toomorrow was a sci-fi movie and this album has a typical late Sixties psychedelic feel to it - the band consisted of Olivia and three guys, Ben Thomas, Karl Chambers and Vic Cooper. The early Olivia Newton-John is the voice of innocence and hope on the soundtrack album. The style is atypical of her later work, however, the band Toomorrow worked well together musically despite their total lack of commercial success. The music was rather better than the movie, which Don Kirshner kept under wraps for a long time after it bombed. Kirshner was trying to follow up his success with the Monkees and the band and movie were heavily promoted to the press in 1970.
The single You're My Baby Now b/w Goin' Back was taken from the album. The other single I Could Never Live Without Your Love b/w Roll Like The River features two tracks not on the album.
Olivia opens Going Back solo, and she provides some great harmonies and backing on some of the other tracks - Happiness Valley, If You Can't Be Hurt have a lot of Olivia in them. The soundtrack album was released on CD in 2014 by Real Gone Music
Thirty-five years after working with Olivia on this album, Ben Thomas would write the song "When I Needed You" for Olivia's 2005 Stronger Than Before album
