The World Health Organisation has predicted that depression will be the second largest cause of disability by 2020. That’s not very far away, so now is the time to do something about it. I rarely get depressed but, like everyone, I do feel down sometimes. I find peace by walking on the beach, meditating and being with family and friends. In response to the WHO statistics, the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation (VicHealth) has launched a new public health campaign aimed at exercising your mental health. This isn’t referring to mental illness. What we are talking about here is acquiring the emotional strength to deal with the ups and downs of everyday life.
