A marriage made in Malibu
Gorgeous Olivia Newton-John was moved to tears as she watched her beloved nephew, Emerson Fifield-Hall, marry long-time sweetheart Amy Leatherman.
More than 100 guests attended the emotional ceremony at Olivia’s stunning Malibu mansion. The singing superstar read a touching poem during the service, while her pretty 12-year-old daughter, Chloe, was bridesmaid.
Olivia has always been close to Emerson, her sister Rona’s eldest son, and has been like a mother to her nephew’s wife. Amy admits that Olivia’s love and support made the couple’s big day very special.
“My mother has passed away and Olivia has basically adopted me. I adore her. She really is the mother figure in my life now, and she was such a big help with the wedding. I couldn’t ask for a better person in my life,” Amy adds.
A golden sunset made a spectacular hackdrop for the couple as they pledged their love to one another. Their two-year-old son. Brin (named after Olivia’s late father), laughed and giggled as he proudly presented the wedding rings to his mum and dad.
During the ceremony Emerson and Amy, who are both 24, simultaneously lit a unity candle to symbolise the coming together of their lives.
And at the moment they were officially married, each wedding guest released a butterfly from a tiny box to represent a new beginning for the happy couple.
Guests then enjoyed an impromptu display of slapstick when the bride and groom started a full-scale food fight after cutting their elaborate three-tiered chocolate wedding cake.
“It was hysterical it was a great moment because it showed their youth and spontaneity,” says one guest.
And there was no doubt Amy and Emerson were enjoying themselves, as they were the last to leave the dance floor at around midnight.
“It was the most perfect day of my life,” says Amy. “And the best part was marrying Emerson, because he is truly the man of my dreams. He’s brilliant, he’s gorgeous, he’s the world’s best father, and now he’s the world’s best husband, too - I love him.”
