Gaia review
Gaia, Olivia Newton-John (Festival)
Olivia Newton-John; her new album, Gaia, was recorded as part of her healing process after a diagnosis of breast cancer.
AS THE cover notes say. Gaia is the spirit of Mother Earth. She is the giver of dreams and the nourisher of plants and young children.
ONJ was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and it’s obvious this album was part of the healing process.
With wonderful and creative uses of instruments such as congas. flutes and something called an erhu. This album is quite a treat.
I must admit. I was prepared to give of Livvy a bit of a slamming (after all, she really hasn’t done anything of note since Grease and she tends to sing through her nose) but Gaia was a very pleasant surprise.
It’s an uplifting album, particularly tracks such as No Matter What You Do and Why Me, both written to purge demons.
