MELBOURNE’S greatest contribution to international culture during the pre-Ramsey Street era, Newton-John has given her black leather gear to St Vincent de Paul’s and returned to stretching her clear, thin voice around high-pitched melodies in syrupy ballads written by the likes of Burt Bacharach and Hal David - something she does quite well.
