Olivia to perform Iowa State University Sept 25 1982

AMES-Popular entertainer Olivia Newton-John will be at Iowa State University Sept. 25 to “get physical.” She will perform in concert at 8 p.m., bringing her “Physical Tour of North America ‘82” to Hilton Coliseum at the Iowa State Center.

Newton-John’s 90-minute performance will include new and unrecorded material as well as many of her No. 1 hits and songs from her hit movie musical, “Grease.” The singer will do her show from a specially designed stage that is being used throughout the entire tour.

Newton-John has sold more than 100 million records. Her “Physical,” album has sold more than four million copies worldwide and the singles from it have sold more than seven million copies.

Originally from Australia, Newton-John went to England at age 15 to further her show business career. She was named Best British Female Vocalist before coming to the United States. She received her first Grammy in 1974 as Best Country Vocalist for the song “Let Me Be There,” and has since earned two more Grammys and eight American Music Awards. Newton-John also has made two motion pictures, “Grease” which is the biggest grossing musical of all time, and “Xanadu,” a musical fantasy with Gene Kelly.

Newton-John is touring for the first time in four years, playing 50 concert dates from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles. This tour is being filmed for a later television special. Her most recent television show, “Let’s Get Physical,” had an audience of more than 31 million viewers.

Tickets for the Newton-John concert are on sale now at all Iowa State Center ticket outlets. Prices are $15, $12.50 and $10.
