New Studio to animate (Xanadu) film scenes
Don Bluth Productions have been signed by producer Lawrence Gordon and co-producer Joel Silver to create an animated sequence for “Xanadu,” an original musical fantasy starring Olivia Newton-John, Gene Kelly and Michael Beck for Universal Pictures release.
The “Xanadu” animated sequence will be the first theatrical release from Dan Bluth Productions, a newly formed animalion studio whose members were formerly associated with the Walt Disney Studios.
Don Bluth Studios is currently in full production on the animated theatrical fea-ture “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of N.1.M.H.” in association with Aurora Productions.
“Xanadu,” a Lawrence Gordan Production was directed by Robert Greenwald. Lawrence Gordon is the producer, Joel Silver is the co-producer and Lee Kramer is the executive producer of the script by Richard Christian Danus and Marc Reid Rubel.
“Xanadu” is scheduled to open nationwide on August 8, 1980.
