Livvy Just Loves Her Stable Life
After a year that saw her establishing herself as a film star and one of the hottest properties in the record industry, Olivia Newton John doesn’t plan to do much in 1979.
In fact, her normally packed diary has only one page marked. in. That’s a date at Buckingham Palace next month to collect her OBE from the Queen.
Apart from that, she’s got nothing fixed up at all. Last year moved at a blistering pace for her. Apart from her smash hit In “Grease” with John Travolta, the one-time moderate Country singer had an extensive and exhausting world tour with every date a sell-out.
Stress is an occupational hazard in the high-tension world of showbiz, but Livvy has her own way of beating it.
When life gets too much for her, she goes down to the stables at her ranch in Malibu, California, and talks to her dogs.
It seems that doing a De Doolittle and talking to her hounds works wonders for her. “I just pull on some old clothes and sit in my stable talking to the dogs says the lovely 30-year-old. “Life’s so simple in the stables.”
Olivia told me after her concert in Manchester at the end of last year that if she had not gone in to the music world, she would like to have studied to become a vet.
Her album, “Totally Hot,” climbed another two places to the number 30 spot and I cannot help feeling that everyone in her record company expected it to do better.
Her single “A Little More Love” did not quite make the number one spot, slithering to a halt at fourth place.
