Olivia at Terre Haute, IN April 1977 concert review

Just coming off of a Las Vegas Tour, Olivia Newton-John appeared in April at a Terre Haute concert. Although a sell out crowd was expected, unexpected apathy and high ticket prices ($8.50 per ticket) held the crowd to a minimum. There were well below 5,000 people in attendance.

Olivia performed “Sam”, “Mellow,” and “I Honestly Love You She also sang the Gary Wright song “Love is Alive”. Olivia proved to be quite a ham frequently rolling her eyes toward cameras.

Jim Stafford was a comedian and also an accomplished guitarist He played a few selections of classical gas on his guitar, he enjoyed better audience response than Olivia did, especially when he did “My Girl Bill” according to Steve Kuehl.

Editor’s note - Julien’s Auctions had a set of photos from this concert for auction, the auction description was:
A trio of vintage photographs on board of Olivia Newton-John performing and signed by her to the front. The verso of each is inscribed in red pen “To Olivia with all kindness & admiration April, 1977 Hulman Center … .”
