Olivia cancels month's of tour dates

A scheduled July 11 performance of popular singer Olivia Newton-John at the Mississippi River Festival has been cancelled, according to MRF officials. All tent seats had been sold for the performance.

Richard Halem of International Creative Management Agency in Beverly Hills, Calif., told festival officials it is necessary for Miss Newton-John “to have a substantial rest due to her exhausting schedule.”

“She has found it necessary to cancel her entire month’s tour, involving some 18 major performances,” said Halem.

Lyle Ward, managing director of the festival, said the agency pledged to try to arrange an MRF appearance for Miss Newton-John in 1976.

Ticket orders for the event are being refunded by mail or at the Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville box of-fice.
