The largest rental fee ever paid for one-day use of the Civic Center has put $1,200 in the city’s treasury.

Bill Ashby, manager of the music hall, said singer Olivia Newton-John’s dual, sellout concerts Feb. 27 set the high mark for rental fees in the facility. The show’s promoter, Ron Nance, said the maximumı 6,400 fans saw the shows.

Dual shows have been held at the hall before but under a new system of percentage fees, the hall is earning more in rental, Ashby said. The contract calls for $400 minimum rental fee.

The city receives 18 per cent of the first $7,000 in ticket sales, then 5 per cent of the next $7,000. A sum of $1,050 is the maximum possible under the system of scaling tickets for Miss Newton-John’s concert.

Ashby also said revenue for the hall is up 25 per cent over 1974. Hall activity also is up 25 per cent, he said.
