Olivia Newton-John, one of today’s top recording artists. will be appearing in concert at the Jacob Brown Civic Auditorium on February 25 for two performances at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the College book store at $4 apiece.

Olivia started off her musical career by making up tunes on the family piano. At the age of fourteen, Olivia and three frien-ds forrned a singing group called The Sol Four. However, when the ac began to interfere with schoolwork, the group disbanded.

Olivia continued on her own and began singing at a coffee lounge owned by her brother-in-law. A customer suggested to Olivia that she enter a talent contest organized by Johany O’keefe, a popular Australian recording and TV artist, and she did…..

“If Not For You,” for Festival Records International. It became a hit in the United Kingdom, the U.S., Canada, Australia, South Africa and on the Continent.

Following an album, Olivia came hack with another successful single, “Bank of the Ohio”. wirich earned her a Silver Disc in Britain and a Gold Disc in Australia.

Olivia soon began touring Europe with the Cliff Richard Show and took part in the Antibes Song Festival in France. She also performed with Cliff at the London Palladium. By 1972. Olivia had become a regular guest on the BBC-TV series, “It’s Cliff Richard”, and she had also notched up another successful single with “What is Life” “Record Mirror” a pop weekly magazine voted Olivia Best British Singer in both 1971 and 1972.

Here in America, Olivia has earned no fewer than five gold records and one platinum album in ten months….

and she also won the Most Promising Female Vocalist from the Academy of Coun-try Music. The Country Music Association named her 1974 Vocalist of the Year.
