Let Me Be There review

- LET ME BE THERE
Olivia Newton - John, MCA:
Olivia Newton-John won a Hayley Mills Look-Alike contest in her native Australia and was flown to London where she did some TV spots and signed a recording contract. An Aussie with a Welsh father and a German mother, Olivia is also collection of musical styles and feelings, combining the best parts of Helen Reddy’s contemporary sound and Bonnie Raitt’s blues sound. It’s unfair to say Olivia Newton-John is a combination of anyone, because she has her own sound.

This album is a mixture of country, rock and gospel cuts from previous albums and is full of dynamite, including her current hit, “Let Me Be There.” Other fine cuts include “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” and her first big hit, Bob Dylan’s “If Not For You.”
