Take Me Home Country Roads single reviews

1. Take Me Home Country Roads - review

Olivia Newton-John’s “Take Me Home Country Roads” (Pye 7N25599) is a lovely song. It starts off like a gospel number then speeds up with only Livvy’s voice double-tracked over a bass.

A soft pedal steel slips in later with soft percussion, giving it a nice country feeling. It’s a strong song, well sung and extremely expertly produced.

2. OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN: Take Me Home Country Roads; Sail Into Tomorrow (Pye Int 25599) Review is from Record Mirror, 25 November 1972, UK This is, first of all, a lovely song - and Olivia’s loveliness has never been questioned. Opens with a choral effect, plus organ, otherwise: instant atmosphere.

Actually, all this activity holds up the main action a mite, but once into full swing it’s a very commercial record indeed. Yearning, that’s what.
