Olivia (LP) review

A modern miss who sings as though she is elegantly pinching her nose to aid and abet the sounds of nasality, is Olivia Newton-John.

Olivia (Interfusion, ITFL 34658) is a collection of contemporary -John. ballads by people like George Harrison, Paul Simon and James Taylor. Recorded in England, it is light, quite pretty in its way, but the desired haunting quality has been heaped on heavy-handedly.

Angel Of The Morning, made me squirm. A few other tracks are I Will Touch You, Why Don’t You Write Me, I’m A Small And Lonely Light, and Just A Little Too Much.

(Olivia may be membered as Pat Carroll’s partner in a two-girl vocal act popular on TV some years ago.)
