£335,401 win is shared by Cranford housewife
Forty-two-year-old Cranford housewife Mrs. Joan Rolfe shares £335,401 with Mr. Peter Pettet, of Hillingdon, in a super pools win this week, and will soon move out of her St. Dunstan's Road council house into a new home of her own. Mr. Petter's money worries are also over.
The two winners, who share the Littlewoods treble chance pool for only 201 points, received their cheques at a special ceremony at London's Grosvenor Hotel on Wednesday.
Olivia Newton-John, whose records can often be found in The Top Twenty, presented the cheques.
Their win is a record summer pools hand-out. Mrs. Rolfe, who lives at 21 St. Dunstan's Road, takes home £166,907 and 37-year-old Mr. Peitet, of 16 Widmore Road. Hillingdon, gets £168,494. Both know exactly how they are going to spend their winnings.
Mrs. Rolfe, who has five children, aged between nine and 23, and who is a part-time meals supervisor at Cranford Junior School, decided to go without a summer holiday this year so that she would be able to work on turning her kitchen into "dream" kitchen for her and her family.
I spent the spring holiday improving my council house because I thought I would never be able to afford a home of my own, but now it looks as if it has all been a waste of time.
she said.
Not that Mrs. Rolfe is complaining because she will now be able to afford the home she and her husband Albert, a bag-gage-handler at Heathrow have always wanted. It is incredible to think that at last we will be getting a new house and a holiday all in one go,
said Mrs. Rolfe.
Mrs. Rolfe is planning to share her win with two of her children, Stanley (20) and Gerald - who had a share in.......
