If Not for You reaching #12 in the UK charts

THE MIXTURES don’t seem to be the only Australians who can get a record into the English charts.

Former Melbourne singer Olivia Newton-John has recorded a Bob Dylan composition called “It’s Not For You” which has reached No 12 in the English charts, three weeks after its release.

The record was produced by former Shadows member Bruce Welch, who also happend to be Miss Newton-John’s constant companion.

Festival Records are plugging the song in Sydney, but so far only one radio station is playing it.

Festival say that the record will be released in America and could be a world wide hit.
