review of Bob Dylan's INFY single with the 'all too sweet sound of Olivia Newton-John'
Now for the good news. I’m glad to see Bob Dylan’s version of his own IF NOT FOR YOU (CBS)- track from his New Morning album - has been released as a single.
Although Olivia Newton-John at the time of writing is just in the top 50, the original is a much stronger version. It is the old unrefined voice of Dylan that we hear on this song and there is no slick flashy accompaniment. It makes a good contrast with the all-too-sweet-sound of Olivia Newton-John. Hard to say which will suc-ceed, but I know which one I prefer.
