Olivia's Lunch date with Cliff Richard
After what Olivia Newton-John’s been through since the disappearance of her lover Patrick McDermott, she probably needed a slap-up lunch. But fellow diners at Manhattan’s chic Nello’s cringed when Livvy’s lunch-mate Sir Cliff Richard cuddled up next to her, gave her a peck on the lips, and joked about “dating” her.
“Oh, yeah, we have been together for a long time,” he smirked. Of course, the two do go back a long way. “I’ve known Cliff since I was 17 or 18 and he put me on his show,” Livvy, 57, explains.
Dining with them were Lord and Lady Ashcroft (above right) who bid $23,000 at a charity auction for the privilege. It’s been claimed the bill came to almost $13,113 - which the party split four ways. But Cliff says they were a lot more restrained, with the total coming to $855 which chivalrous Cliff paid himself.
Coincidentally, another British showbiz icon, Cilla Black (right), was also dining at Nello’s - and Livvy couldn’t resist taking a few happy snaps!
