A Personal Message from Olivia
Welcome to the first edition of The Well Wisher. This will be a regular newsletter updating you on the progress being made with the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre Appeal including building developments, latest news on fundraising efforts as well as news and views on cancer treatment and patient care.
Together we are undertaking to help build a cancer centre like no other in this country. I am proud to put my name to this very special cancer centre. The cancer centre will provide new therapies not available anywhere else in Australia. This wonderful project means a great deal to many of our friends and family who will be touched by cancer.
Thank you, for your wonderful support.
Olivia
WE'RE MAKING GREAT PROGRESS
We have received many questions regarding the planning and progress of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre Appeal. Most of the key questions are answered here.
Q. When will the new Centre be built and completed?
A. It is anticipated that by the end of 2006, the $50 million needed to build the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre will be raised. This will mean building can begin towards the end of 2006. It is expected that this major project will take two years to complete so our anticipation is that the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre will open in late 2008.
The Centre’s seven levels will include:
Main Foyer, Reception, Recognition Wall, Ambulatory Oncology Day Centre, and Clinical Trials. Radiation Therapy, Palliative Care Centre and Palliative Outreach Centre, Cancer Wards and also Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.
Q. How is the Appeal going?
A. The aim of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre Appeal is to raise $50 million. The Appeal has been underway for two years now and donations and pledges are well on targer with almost $9 million so far raised.
We would like to particularly thank the hundreds of donors who make donations through the mail or via regular monthly debits from their bank account or credit card. Hundreds more out in the community are holding their own special fundraising functions and many thousands of kind people have purchased tickets in our major Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre Appeal Raffles.
