about Gaia retreat
Olivia says she feels as if she's come home. The property that inspires this tranquillity is her latest project, designed and built with long-time friend, Gregg Cave - Gaia Retreat.
It’s not a health spa, nor a 5-star resort, but, perched on the uppermost peak of the Ballina Shire, this verdant property is a haven.
“It’s a little piece of Heaven where I can be, but not have to be ‘on’. You can completely relax, wander in comfort, be alone if you choose or simply be with nature. If there’s a guiding ethos it’s a sophisticated hideaway that provides total comfort for communing with nature and your own soul.”
“We refer to it as ‘barefoot meets Armani’, all the while being totally pampered,” she says.
In Australia to record, catch up with friends and family and in her capacity as tireless Cancer campaigner, Olivia is glowing with zeal about Gaia.
“We want to give our guests good old-fashioned service with a smile, but at the same time allow them total privacy.”
And it is private. There is no signage on the highway and you won’t see advertising for its packages.
As Gregg explains. “It’s all about choice. You can be as active or as reclusive as you wish. There’s a full program of activities-yoga, walking, body balance, pilates, or just recline on the day bed and enjoy the panoramic views to the sea.”
Their aim was to make Gaia as environmentally friendly as possible. Olivia has the credentials. She has been Environment Ambassador to the US for 15 years, as well as working with Planet Ark to protect the environment.
