So you thought the Australian Open was all about grunting and sweating, aces and volleys, smashed racquets and angry linesmen?

C’mon! Melbourne Park was transformed this year into a mecca for the glitzy and glamourous thanks to the new Australian Open sponsor, Garnier.

In a fun twist on the usual wipe-down with a damp towel, players were able to take advantage of hair and beauty advice and treatments throughout the tournament, so they could look their best on and off court.

And instead of the usual gathering of tennis fanatics and sporting heroes, a who’s who of celebrities frocked along for swish soirees through the fortnight, culminating in the sparkling Garnier Australian Open Centenary Ball.
