From Australia to Paris

She Will Survive

Olivia Newton-John has had her share of successes, as well as losses. She’s dabbled in retail lines, penned children’s stories, recovered from bankruptcy and overcome breast cancer. The ’70s sweetheart proves to be an ideal survivor.

Her debut album Let Me Be There was her first success in America. The album produced the self-titled Top 10 single and earned her the most prom-ising female vocalist award from the Academy of Country Music and a Grammy for best country vocalist. Since then, Newton-John has won additional Grammy Awards for her country-style ballads.

Newton-John’s celebrity status has allowed her to be a spokeswoman for several environmental groups. She has served as the goodwill ambassador to the United Nations Environmental Program and devoted her time to other causes.

Newton-John has proved to the world that given enough drive and ambition, a person can overcome some of the worst curves that life can throw at you. And while overcoming those obstacles, she’s made a difference.
