Olivia's back - to share the stage

By Music Writer Lauren McMenemy

AMID the chaos of three flights arriving at once, the trademark blonde hair and smile still stood out.

Australia’s favourite girl-next-door, Olivia Newton-John, arrived in Adelaide yesterday for her concert at the Entertainment Centre tonight.

The two-hour retrospective features a 25-piece orchestra and has been well-received by audiences and critics since it opened in Bris-bane two weeks ago.

The tour has also seen 17-year-old Chloe Lattanzi - Newton-John’s daughter from her marriage to actor Matt Lattanzi - join her on stage for several songs. Newton-John said she was pleased with the tour, saying the audiences had been “wonderful”.

As for the mother-daughter part of the show, “I love it, it’s great. It’s been a treat.”

While 18 years have passed since her last Australian tour, Newton-John advised fans not to expect an encore performance. “I wouldn’t think so. It’s been a long time, and you don’t want to do it too soon again,” she said. “It may be my last, I don’t know yet, but I’m having a great time.”

Newton-John rose to international prominence in the 1970s, winning Grammys and appearing in one of the biggest movie musicals of all time, Grease. She also had hits with such songs as Physical, Xanadu and I Honestly Love You.

Her latest album, (2), has gone platinum, selling more than 70,000 copies.
