Grease - After They Were famous TV show
Ater They Were Famous (ITV1) mimicked that nostalgic adventure with the movie that sealed the Hollywood careers of John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
The supporting cast of Grease looked grate-ful just for the opportunity to remind us that they had once acted in one of the most successful movie musicals, their cheeriness never quite dispelling the impression that these are some of Hollywood’s millions of one-hit Willy Lomans, all doing their best to avoid acknowledging that their future is almost certainly behind them.
Travolta’s career also sank briefly, before Pulp Fiction catapulted him back into Hollywood’s A-list. Now all that remains of his Grease character, Danny, is that dimple on his chin, like a black hole that has been encircled, over the years, by a growing and threatening army of ectoplasm.
Newton-John? She still exudes that sparkly coyness which, when you see it in a woman, you unfairly suspect masks a lady who likes to talk dirty in the bedroom.
