Toyota’s partnership with Planet Ark is crucial to the success of National Tree Day and is part of the company’s worldwide commitment to the environment.

Toyota has pioneered environmentally responsible processes in its global manufacturing plants and it recently launched the Prius in Australia-the world’s first mass-production hybrid electric/petrol powered car.

Planet Ark co-Founder Pat Cash and Olivia Newton-John both know the value of a Prius, as they both drive one. The Prius uses up to half the petrol of a similar sized conventional normal car and emits up to 80% less pollutants.

Toyota Australia also plants trees in their “Forest of Toyota”. A 10 year planting program has begun on 5,000 hectares of land in Western Australia growing fast-maturing, high photosynthetic trees.

Toyota is proud to once again be partnering Planet Ark for National Tree Day 2002.

“Just from the transport issue alone, the million plus trees we planted last year will, over their lifetime, offset one year’s emissions of up to 50,000 vehicles,” says Toyota Australia President, Ken Asano.
