This year’s been tough for many of us. The coronavirus pandemic hasn’t been good for many people’s hopes and dreams, and of course respect to those who we have lost before their time. It did make a lot of free time, however. I never really thought there would be a what’s new on here again, after ceasing development in 2016. Fixing it looked too hard. But I did listen to more Olivia, and a voice from the past gave me a kick to get it sorted. So it’s an ill wind, but I had time enough to do a drains-up and fix this.
It’s nearly 10 years since Only Olivia went down. Everything seems to have gone social media, the endless scrolling feed of novelty without depth. I don’t really do Facebook, so this is never going to be at the bleeding edge. That’s fine - the original aim on here was to provide an encyclopedia of Olivia’s work, and I want to continue in that vein.
It’s been a long year, but Olivia has been there singing us through. She has gone through her own travails these last few years. True to her word, however, she’s not given up and is an inspiration to us all.
Olivia’s becomes more of an angel as she gets older
I never really imagined Olivia as someone who trashes a hotel room, all I ask of a celebrity is they perform their art well. Olivia is special, and turned out a great heroine in many more ways than as a lovely singer. She was gracious - I had the chance to see that when jointly running Only Olivia many years ago, but researching the last decade of the press she has responded to the travails life has thrown at her including the return of cancer with a courage and fortitude that is an absolute inspiration to behold. It’s nice to see that recognised in last year’s UK Damehood honour
I am extremely excited, honoured and grateful beyond words to be included with such an esteemed group of women who have received this distinguished award before me. “As a girl born in Cambridge, I am very proud of my British ancestry and so appreciative to be recognised in this way by the United Kingdom.”
and Companion of the Order of Australia
Thank you for this gorgeous medal, I’m so thrilled to be sharing this big honour with you, I’ll continue to do the best for the country I love.
Bless her. She’s an inspiration to live life well, and never give up. And deep respect to John Easterling too, a self-made match worthy of Olivia - as she said.
I’m very lucky I have a wonderful, beautiful husband who is just so loving and fantastic. I always tell my friends you’re never too old to find love. I found the love of my life at 59 going on 60! I’m grateful
