While nature loving Olivia Newton-John prefers the quiet life, she had special reason to brave the roar of the recent German Grand Prix - her beloved nephew Emerson was making his big debut as a professional racing driver.
Lovely Livvy and her big sister Rona shared every thrilling moment as young Emerson, the brother of Sex/Life host Totti Goldsmith, sped around the tracks at more than 180km/h.
And they couldn’t help a shared sigh of relief when he emerged safe and sound from his Renault racing car at the end of the day - his team victorious and jubilant.
“This is all Emerson ever talked about from the moment he could speak,” Livvy enthuses. “He has raced bikes and go-karts but since he was a little boy he has always wanted to be a professional racing car driver.”
And as the latest rising star in the famous Aussie clan showed the world his stuff, his mother and aunt added their own special touch to ensure his success - and safety.
“We just have to be confident he knows exactly what he’s doing and hope and pray nothing is going to happen,” Livvy says. “it’s a dangerous sport and naturally you’re worried about what can happen. But you try not to think about it and surround him with a great white light to keep him safe.”
