Olivia Newton-John is known around the globe as the singer and actress with the sunny smile and perennially fresh looks who was able to conquer a battle against breast cancer thanks to her indomitable spirit.

Yet she sees herself more as the mother of nine-year-old Chloe. Having just finished recording with Cliff Richard in Britain, the 46-year-old Australian beauty took Chloe off to Paris where she is promoting her latest album Gaia One Woman's Journey.

Olivia has a soft spot for Gaia as it is the direct outcome of her cancer scare. She spent two years convalescing in the seclusion of her ranch in Australia following her successful operation in July, 1992, and during that time she wrote the most personal and emotionally-charged lyrics she's ever composed.

I think what made me record this album were the values of simplicity, nature and human relationships - much more than material things and money, she says. This philosophy comes out very clearly in Gaia.
